My name is Larissa, and I want to share the story of how getting treatment for my alcoholism led to finding my passion and completely transforming my life. I hope to inspire anyone who was struggling like I was and show how I turned the darkest period of my life into a booming business and a new path. I want readers to know that if I could fall into alcoholism, anyone can, but it is just as possible to get out of it.
I’m 38 years old, and live in a house I inherited from my mom, who died five years ago (my father was never really in the picture). I am engaged to a handsome man, who also happens to be my business partner, and have no children (yet!). The events I’m describing began a few years ago, right after my mom’s death.
If you or anyone you know is struggling with alcoholism, please get help. There are so many resources available, many for free. It is a far more common problem than you might think, and getting help is a commendable act of bravery.
You may be surprised at how treating alcoholism can affect nearly every part of your life. Before I got treatment, I wasn’t working, I had no meaningful connections with people and filled my days figuring out when, where and with whom I’d have my next drink. I was lost, with no direction and quite possibly could have died if I continued the path I was on.
Now, I am happily engaged and own a successful business, creating marketing and selling products that focus on nourishing the body, rather than destroying it as I had done for so many years. If you had asked me when I was younger what I would be doing at 38, I never would have expected my current lifestyle to be the answer, but I am so happy it is.
But my life had to get ugly and dark before I could rise to the place I’m in now. Keep reading if you want to know my story.
